    Film Horor
    Film horor adalah film yang berusaha untuk memancing emosi berupa ketakutan dan rasa ngeri dari penontonnya. Alur cerita mereka sering melibatkan tema-tema kematian, supranatural, atau penyakit mental. Banyak cerita film horor yang berpusat pada sebuah tokoh antagonis tertentu yang jahat. Penggambaran pertama kejadian-kejadian gaib dan supranatural muncul di beberapa film pendek bisu yang dibuat oleh pionir film seperti Georges Méliès (sineas asal Prancis) pada akhir 1890-an, dimana filmnya yang paling menonjol adalah Le Manoir du diable (BI: “Rumah Iblis”) (1896) yang kadang-kadang disebut sebagai film horor pertama. Sebelum Perang Dunia II, film horor sebagian besar dibuat berdasarkan dari karya-karya sastra klasik bertema gotik / horor dari negara-negara Barat, seperti Drakula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), The Phantom of the Opera (1925), dan Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941). Dalam dunia perfilman yang lebih baru, film horor sering menarik inspirasi dari kegelisahan hidup yang timbul setelah Perang Dunia II, sehingga terciptalah tiga sub-ragam yang berbeda namun saling berhubungan di Amerika Serikat dimana industri film horor berkembang sangat pesat. Ketiga sub-ragam tersebut adalah: horor-kepribadian seperti film Psycho (1960), horor-kiamat seperti film Invasion of The Body Snatchers (1956), dan horor-setan seperti film The Exorcist (1973). Dari sudut pandang industri film horor Amerika, sub-ragam yang terakhir dapat dilihat sebagai transisi modern dari film horor lama, dimana penekanan pada agen-agen supranatural yang membawa kengerian bagi dunia semakin diutamakan. Meski begitu, banyak orang yang menyukai film yang cenderung menonjolkan hal-hal yang mengerikan, menakutkan, dan sadis dalam film horor. Ternyata, dari menonton film horor ada beberapa manfaat yang kita peroleh. Manfaatnya antara lain :
    1. Membuat bahagia
    Ternyata nonton film horor bisa membuat otak seseorang lebih sehat. Saat menonton film horor, otak secara otomatis melepas hormon stres, kemudian membanjiri otak dengan hormon bahagia. Aliran hormon-hormon ini akan membuat efek yang mirip obat penghilang rasa sakit, sehingga dapat menurunkan stres dan kecemasan.
    2. Membakar kalori
    Rasa takut ternyata bisa membuat seseorang membakar kalori lebih banyak. Walaupun tidak memberi efek membakar kalori sebanyak jika olahraga, sebuah penelitian di Inggris menunjukkan bahwa menonton film horor yang menyeramkan dapat membakar sekitar 200 kalori.
    3. Membuat kita lebih waspada di kehidupan nyata
    Semakin sering menonton film horor, semakin besar tingkat kewaspadaan kita. Hal ini akan membuat otak merekam memori agar kita selalu waspada, bahkan di kehidupan sehari-hari. Kemampuan untuk mengantisipasi hal-hal tidak diinginkan cenderung lebih baik pada mereka yang sering nonton film horor. kita lebih waspada dalam situasi apapun.

    Horror Movie
    The horror film is a film that seeks to stir emotions in the form of fear and horror from viewers. The story line they frequently involve themes of death, the supernatural or mental illness. Many stories horror film centered on a specific antagonist of evil. The depiction of the first events of the occult and the supernatural appeared in several silent short films made by film pioneers such as Georges Méliès (French filmmaker) at the end of the 1890s, which is the most prominent film Le Manoir du diable (BI: “House of the Devil” ) (1896), which is sometimes referred to as the first horror film. Before World War II, most of the horror movies made based on the works of classical literature themed gothic / horror from Western countries, such as Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), The Phantom of the Opera (1925), and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941). In the newer world of cinema, horror films often drew inspiration from life anxiety arising after World War II, creating three sub-range of different but interconnected in the United States where the horror movie industry is growing very rapidly. The three sub-varieties are: horror-movie personalities such as Psycho (1960), a horror-apocalypse movies like Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), and the horror-demons like the movie The Exorcist (1973). From the standpoint of American horror film industry, a sub-range of the latter can be seen as the modern transition from the old horror movies, where the emphasis on supernatural agents that bring horror to the world is getting an advantage. Even so, many people who like movies that tend to highlight things that are terrible, frightening, and sadistic in a horror film. Apparently, from watching horror movies there are some benefits we derive. The benefits include:
    1. Make hapier
    It turned out to watch a horror movie can make the brain healthier person. When watching a horror movie, the brain automatically release stress hormones, and brain flooded with happy hormones. The flow of these hormones will create an effect similar painkiller, so it can reduce stress and anxiety.
    2. Burn calories
    Fear it can make a person to burn more calories. Although it does not give effect to burn as many calories as if sport, a British study showed that watching a scary horror movie can burn about 200 calories.
    3. Make we more alert in real life
    The more often watching a horror movie, the greater the level of our awareness. This will create a memory to record the brain that we are always vigilant, even in everyday life. The ability to anticipate unwanted things tends to be better in those who often watch horror movies. we are more vigilant in any situation.
